Thank you for hosting me and Taking Charge on your wonderful blog Carol. Today I am going to tell everyone all about my lead female character Robyn Matthers.
Now Robyn is a little bit of a Peter Pan character - the girl who never grew up. She’s twenty five but she acts like she’s a teenager most of the time. And when you read the book you will find out exactly why she does this. But, the events of her past aren’t the only reasons for her behaviour - she’s simply just an old fashioned girl at heart.
Robyn likes the simple things in life. She loves the community in the town of Portage , she loves pickles and hot dogs and everything that’s bad for her. She likes to spend her time watching ice hockey, fixing cars, eating at all-you-can-eat restaurants and hanging out with her friends. She isn’t a girl who needs a new outfit for every occasion, she’s happiest in her jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. She’s no-nonsense, straight-talking and blunt. She’s the girl all the boys respect because she’s just like them! She watches monster trucks, she plays ice hockey and she wins all the drinking contests. She’s easy-going and laid back unless she’s on a mission to complete something. Then she can be a little bit temperamental and volatile. She can sure throw a good punch!
But what happens when one of the boys becomes more than just a team player to her? Robyn doesn’t have the first clue about romance and dating or what the rules are! She’s had nothing like that in her life before and she finds it all a bit weird when she starts having feelings like a ‘normal’ girl.
Underneath the boyish exterior and firm opinions is a heart of pure mush. She can be passionate and emotional when it involves family, friends, her car or her beloved ice hockey team. She’s a good person who’s had a lot to deal with and she’s still hanging on, getting through and staying strong.
Girls like Robyn because she’s a good friend, loyal, honest, kind, fun and a little bit crazy. Boys like her because she knows about sports, she doesn’t expect them to walk around a mall shopping for clothes and because she usually buys the first round of beers.
I just know the readers are going to love her too!
