Day 9 - Favourite book you thought you wouldn't like but ended up loving

Don't even have to wrack my brain for this one.

The book I loved that I would not have dreamed of picking up and reading was Angels and Demons - Dan Brown.
As regulars will know my genres are Historical Fiction, Chick-Lit, Women's Fiction. I don't do horror, action, thriller etc.

So how did I end up reading Angels and Demons, I hear you ask.

Well, I was laid up with a slipped disc in my back.  Literally flat out for several weeks.   At this point in my life I was a single mum of 2 and working as a teaching assistant.  There was no time for reading or crafting (my other passion, sadly a distant memory)
A friend I worked with came to visit and dropped  off a bag of books.  Thrillers, true life stories and a couple of Dan Brown's.   I looked at the only one I thought I could manage which was Deception Point.   I surprised myself and got caught
up in the action.  So much so, that I wanted to read more of his work, including The DaVinci Code.
Angels and Demons did scare me  but I loved the Ambigrams and reading the
mysteries being solved.
