Festive Fun - Day 15 - Jane Lovering

Jane Lovering has joined in the festive fun and answered the questions in her own style for Day 15.

What is your favourite festive film/book or both?
I used to have a lovely illustrated copy of Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’. I don’t know what happened to it, possibly we burned it for warmth, but that’s my favourite festive book, ever.  Closely followed by a children’s picture-book of ‘The Night Before Christmas’, which I can, given sufficient alcoholic encouragement, recite off by heart.
Tree – Real or Artificial? Why?
Got to be real.  Only a real tree masks the smell of desperation, spilled alcohol, impatient cats and burned bacon that my house is redolent with over the Christmas period.
Mince pie or Choc Yule Log?
Hard choice.  Mince pies contain nasty pastry-orientated stuff, which I’m not keen on, but then I don’t really like chocolate cake either.  Hmm.  Can I just lick the icing off the cake, with a possible option on any marzipan decorations that have been left carelessly lying about, please?

My latest novel is the resolutely unChristmassy ‘Vampire State of Mind’ published by Choc Lit.
Here’s the blurb (try reading with a glass of sherry, in front of a blazing fire, it’ll make you feel ever-so festive).
Jessica Grant knows vampires only too well.  She runs the York Council tracker programme making sure that Otherworlders are all where they should be, keeps the filing in order and drinks far too much coffee.  To Jess, vampires are annoying and arrogant and far too sexy for their own good, particularly her ex-colleague Sil, who’s now in charge of Otherworld York.

But when a demon turns up and threatens not just Jess but the whole world order, she and Sil are forced to work together, and when Jess turns out to be the key to saving the world it puts a very different slant on their relationship.  The stakes are high.  They are also very, very pointy and Jess isn’t afraid to use them, even on the vampire that she’s rather afraid she’s falling in love with ...
