Festive Fun - Day 18 - Talli Roland

Day 18 and another Author in the Advent calendar.  Talli Roland is here sharing her Christmas favourites.

Thank you, Talli

Hope you had a great weekend! My answers are below. Hope they’re okay  – thanks so much for asking me to take part in this. How wonderful that you’ve had such a great response!

What is your favourite Christmas Carol/festive song?
I love ‘The Huron Carol’. It’s not your typical festive carol – it’s set in a minor key – but it has a kind of otherworldliness about it that really strikes a chord with me. Plus, it reminds me of my homeland, Canada.

What is your favourite festive film/book or both?
I adore Love Actually, and I watch it every Christmas without fail whilst sobbing like a lovesick idiot on the sofa.

Tree – Real or Artificial? Why?
Real all the way! I love the scent of pine and the way it fills the home. Cleaning up needles is tiresome, yes, but it’s so worth it.

Bucks Fizz or Mulled Wine or other?
Mulled wine. There’s something so cosy about its nutmeg warmth!

Mince pie or Choc Yule Log?
Definitely chocolate Yule log. I’m not a fan of sultanas, dates, or any of the icky things mince pies involve.
Lunch has been demolished and the dishwasher is on....do you walk, sit down for Eastenders and Queen’s speech or have another tradition for after lunch?
My husband and I usually have a Christmas Supper (we have a huge breakfast and skip lunch altogether!). Pre-supper, we go for a walk along the Thames, stop in at a pub for a glass of mulled wine, then come home and stuff our faces.
You open the door to Carollers, who would be your dream team of Carollers?
I admit to having a small crush on Gareth Malone, so if he was there with one of his many choirs, I’d be a very happy woman!

About The Pollyanna Plan:
Thirty-something Emma Beckett has always looked down on 'the glass is half full' optimists, believing it's better to be realistic than delusional. But when she loses her high-powered job and fiancé in the same week, even Emma has difficulty keeping calm and carrying on.  With her world spinning out of control and bolstered by a challenge from her best friend, Emma makes a radical decision. From here on in, she'll behave like Pollyanna: attempting to always see the upside, no matter how dire the situation.
Can adopting a positive attitude give Emma the courage to build a new life, or is finding the good in everything a very bad idea?
