Festive Fun - Day 2 - Carole Matthews

Festive Fun Author Advent will run from 1st Dec -24th Dec
and include many authors who were invited to answer some fun festive questions to get us in the holiday mood.

Chick-lit favourite, Carole Matthews joins in the Festive Fun Author Advent today....
Thank you Carole for joining the fun!

What is your favourite festive film/book or both?

The Nativity!film with Martin Freeman. Such a feelgood movie. I think I’ve watched it about five times and it never fails to make me smile. So pleased to see that there’s a Nativity 2 out this year starring the delectable David Tennant. Plus our Christmas only starts when we’ve watched The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Tree – Real or Artificial? Why?

Both! This year we’re having two trees. One downstairs in my conservatory which is going to be a massive real one. We can fit an eleven foot one in without cutting it down and I’m going all out. Then we already have an artificial one - bought in about September - that is going in our living room. My decor there is very monochrome, so the tree is grey and I’ve chosen all white decorations.

Bucks Fizz or Mulled Wine or other?

Christmas is the time for champagne and cocktails! I’ve already been stocking up my booze cupboard and we’ll be starting to try out new recipes very soon!

Mince pie or Choc Yule Log?

Mince pies. Now that I’m writing Christmassy novels, I start eating them in about July. My very favourite food.

Christmas dinner – Turkey or Beef or other?

Has to be traditional turkey with all the trimmings. Christmas day just isn’t right without it. I love cooking my Christmas dinner. It’s the best meal of the year!

Happy Christmas, everyone!

Carole’s latest book, published by Little, Brown,  is out now in paperback - WITH LOVE AT CHRISTMAS

Can the imperfect family really have the perfect Christmas?

Juliet Joyce adores Christmas.  She loves the presents, the tree, the turkey, the tinsel, everything. Already the festive spirit is upon her, which is just as well as this Christmas things are starting to get out of hand.
Her son Tom is out of work and bringing home a slew of unsuitable partners; pregnant daughter Chloe and her little boy have moved back in; Juliet’s father, Frank, is getting over a heartbreak of his own and Rita, her eccentric mother, is behaving more erratically each day.  And has the chaos got too much for Juliet’s husband Rick?
With the big day fast approaching, Juliet hopes that she can stop everything spiralling out of control, because the only thing she wants is her family all around her and her home to be filled… WITH LOVE AT CHRISTMAS
